How did you meet Dewey?
We met online.

Describe your first date?
We watched a movie at his house because he was a single dad. I told him right away I knew I was in trouble as I was in the middle of nursing school and did not really need any distractions.

How did the proposal happen?
He was waiting for me one day when I came home from work at the top of the stairs in our house. He was dressed very fancy and had a "red carpet" rolled out down the stairs and to the front door with rose petals on it. Playing our song that we danced to at our wedding. We have been together for 11 years and I was more than ready to marry him. Our two kids were down the hall way watching us and giggling.

Wedding Date: October 24, 2020

Location: St. Charles, Missouri USA

What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Saying our vows to each other and hearing the ceremony our close friend wrote and performed in front of our close friends and family.

What is your favorite memory from wedding planning?
FINDING MY DRESS!

Now that you are married, what are you most looking forward to with your significant other?
Spending the rest of our lives together knowing he is mine. Focusing on each other and no one else.

What was the most stressful part of planning your wedding and why?
Covid!!!! We had been together for 11 years when he proposed in February I knew right away I did not want a long engagement so I wanted to get married this fall. We hurried and planned everything as quickly as possible and nail down all of our venues on short notice.

In the end I am glad we did not cancel and reschedule as the pandemic is not going anywhere any time soon and we were both fine with going ahead with getting married with less people there because in the end all we wanted to be is married no matter how few people could attend.

Did your wedding go as planned?
I would say once things were set in place with all the guidelines in the end they did not change after that but lots of unknowns in the beginning.

Is there anything you would have done differently?
No nothing different other than possibly getting married on the beach.

Gown: Vanessa Wedding Gown (MB1819)

Describe your process of finding your perfect gown. Research? How many stores did you go to?  What was your experience prior to finding the perfect gown?

I knew nothing about wedding gowns did no research figured that is what the bridal shops were for. Booked my first appointment close to home at a small shop that said they carried plus size gowns.

Well that store did not have anything that fit, nothing even close. It was truly devastating and a lot of the gowns were the same style once you got to a certain size. Then I went to a popular store that I thought would have a better selection and they did but still none that actually fit but they could be ordered in my size but when something does not fit it is hard to see if it truly will look good. Slightly discouraged I told my mom I am not wasting my time looking at any other stores that say they have plus size dresses but have none or like only one in store to try on.

I mentioned Wedding Wishlist out in Warrenton, Missouri which is actually close to my moms house and was recommended to me by a friend. My mom called Denise and she understood exactly what my mom was talking about and offered to send me a few websites and told me to pick some dresses from those that I like and she would try to order them in my size for me to try on and then she could return any of them that I did not want. I was truly floored by this. I picked several and sent them to her and set up a time to come try them on. It was amazing to have dresses that actually fit. There were 4 or 5 different dresses for me to try on. The decision was harder when everything fit because I usually don't have that many choices when picking clothes out.

I typically have to just get which ever one fits. So when they all fit I did not know what to do. In the end I picked the most beautiful princess, Cinderella dress. I loved it so much and Denise at Wedding Wishlist was so great. Also since I had the dress already and it fit I did not have to worry about ordering it and waiting and hoping it came in on time it was already there and all mine.

She also let us keep it at her shop until the day before my wedding day which was a huge relief because this dress was huge. Denise also had a great alteration lady Bev that helped put a bustle in the dress for me.

Describe your "say yes to the dress" moment.  How did you know it was the one?
It fit very good, it was stunning, needed very few alterations, and was very sparkly which just screams me.

What do you love most about your gown?
The top half of the dress with all the beading and detail.

What advice would you give to brides looking for their wedding dress?
Don't settle or let anyone else feel like you don't have choices. Find your Wedding Wishlist type place because I am sure it is out there. I am sure if you are willing to travel Denise (at Wedding Wishlist) would be very happy to help any of you.
